Cully might be the most eclectic neighborhood on Portland’s eastside — houses from every decade sitting side by side, no two streets alike, and the whole place changing fast as new owners settle into old houses and decide to stay. That’s usually when our phone rings: staying in a neighborhood you love sometimes means changing nearly everything inside the house.

The Whole House, One Project
A whole home renovation is a different animal from a one-room remodel. Every decision touches every other one — floors meet cabinets, cabinets meet counters, trim meets paint — and when those calls get made by different contractors in different years, the house ends up telling three stories at once. Done as one project, it tells one: one scope, one crew, one standard, first day to last.
The kitchen was a full design-and-build job — we drew it with the owners, then built what we drew: white cabinets keeping the perimeter bright, a dark island anchoring the room, subway tile, quartz counters, and a glass-front refrigerator — the kind of detail you either love or you don’t. Finishes that agree with each other
The hardest part of a whole-home renovation isn’t any single trade — it’s consistency. The casing in the last bedroom has to match the casing at the front door, and the finishes picked in week one have to still look right in the last room done. That takes one crew carrying the decisions through the whole house.

After the renovation wrapped, the owners lived with the house a while — then hired us again, this time for tile work in their master bathroom. What does a whole-home renovation actually include?
As much as the house needs: typically kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, trim, paint, and lighting — and often the floor plan itself, opening walls to get a living space like the one above. Can we live in the house during the renovation?
Sometimes. Smaller scopes can be phased room by room so you keep a working kitchen and bathroom. On a full-interior job, the honest answer is the work goes faster and the finish comes out better with the house empty — and we’ll tell you which side of that line your project lands on before you commit to anything.
How do we start — and what will it cost?
With a walkthrough. We walk the house with you, listen to what you want it to become, and follow up with a free line-item estimate — a real number on every part of the scope, so you can trim or grow the project before anyone swings a hammer.
